About Us

The historic corner store setting is a perfect spot for after-work drinks, quiet conversation, or a relaxed date night.

Built in 1912 as a neighbourhood corner grocery, the building at the corner ofLangside and Sara has long been part of daily life in West Broadway.

Expanded with apartments above in the 1920s, it became known as Langside Grocery in the 1940s and has continued to evolve alongside the neighbourhood.

Since 2017, it has operated as a bar and restaurant, carrying forward its tradition as a welcoming local gathering place.

As of 2025, the top two floors are home to the studios of Public City Architecture, keeping the building active and connected to the community it serves.

Meet the Owners

Peter and Liz (the co-owners of Public City Architecture), run the Winnipeg-based landscape architecture firm known for creating spaces that strengthen communities by day.

By night, they’re passionate about providing a local watering hole for the West Broadway community.

More than a neighbourhood cocktail bar, it's a place designed to bring people together over thoughtful food, drinks, and easy conversation.

As long time champions of Winnipeg’s hidden corners, Peter and Liz believe neighbourhood spaces matter.

Every detail, from the restored historic building to the menu and programming, is intended to create a welcoming place where people feel connected, whether they're stopping in for a quick glass of wine, catching up with friends, or enjoying the beautiful, treed patio on a beautiful Winnipeg summer evening.
